Sponsorship
The legal relationship under which a UAE resident holds the residence visa of the person they employ at home.
A domestic worker's residence visa is tied to a sponsor. For household staff that sponsor is normally the employing individual, with the paperwork executed through a Tadbeer centre.
Sponsorship carries obligations that are easy to overlook: the wage, accommodation, medical insurance, the return ticket at the end of the contract, and keeping the visa valid. These are not optional extras — they are the terms on which the visa was issued.
Why it matters
Before agreeing anything, be clear about who the sponsor will be, what it will cost, and what you are committing to for the length of the contract.
